Luxury, Cageless Boarding

As the Dog House Lodge receptionist, I’m the one who has the pleasure of scheduling your pup’s stay, bath or other services. Even though most of my work is done remotely, I thoroughly enjoy getting to meet your pups and putting a face and personality with the name.  As Joan says, we do have the “most PAWsome guests!”  I grew up spending time on the family farm in the Midwest where I learned the enrichment dogs bring to our lives. Our family has always included dogs, and I currently share my home with Coco a chocolate lab and Rusty a cattle dog mix. They take me for a walk every day, and occasionally I get to go to the dog park and ocean.  I believe that those of us lucky enough to have a dog, are lucky enough!

Growing up with a large extended family, I’ve had the pleasure of caring for many pet types, including dogs, cats, donkeys, and birds.  In 2016, I moved from New Smyrna Beach where I owned a Dog Walking & Pet Sitting business to join the Dog House Lodge team.  I currently share my home with my ‘niece’ Derby Rose, a Border Collie and our Lodge Mascot.  Dog House Lodge has become an extended pack for us because of all the wonderful guests that Derby & I get to play

with.  My biggest passion is canine grooming & hygiene

because I feel the spa services we offer provide physical

& emotional balance, and enhance the well-being of

your dog.

It seems everyone associated with Dog House Lodge has ‘rescue’ running in their blood, and I am no exception.  Although I spent 39 years traveling, I was fortunate enough to settle down in Polk County where my family & I invested in a beautiful 10-acre farm.  Soon after, I left my 18-year corporate career to follow my passion of rescuing honey bees full time.  Rescuing bees from Joan’s house was one of my first bee-adventures, and when the rescue was done, I adopted my beautiful & smart fur-baby Wendy, from her.  Although bees are my first love, my passion for dogs follows close behind.   My life-partner and I are fondly referred to as the Brady Bunch as our blended family consists of 6 rescue dogs!  I am thrilled to be following both of my dreams of rescuing bees and doting on dogs at Dog House Lodge.  I especially enjoy loving on the seniors and playing with the younger pups.

From as young as I can remember, most of my friends had fur;     and my mom used to joke that my first words were “Look what I found, can I keep him?”  I come from a family of animal rescuers, so the apple didn’t fall far from the tree with me.  For 17 years I owned Catnip Trails Pet Rescue, saving & adopting out countless pets.  And although my wallet was always empty, my heart was always full.  I firmly believe that if you follow your passion, you will find your purpose.  So with that motto in mind, we opened Dog House Lodge to provide your beloved furry friends with the same level of care we give to our own.  I am blessed with a husband who supports my dream of being a dog butler (and owning the GRRReatest boarding facility in Central Florida).  We share our home with our rescue kitties and donkeys, and our four pampered pooches:  Willow, Hershey, Tonka, and Joey.
